While I had collaborated with the other print editors for our past centerspread designs, this one was entirely up to me. I used Illustrator to make the suitcases and did the rest in inDesign–the only element I didn’t do were the portrait illustrations, which were done by our staff designer, Wenjie.
I wanted to provide a visual representation of how the senior class was going to spread out after graduation, and used reports that the counselors had and Google Maps to painstakingly plot out the locations of every college seniors had planned on attending. The data resting on the suitcases was obtained from a poll the other print editors and I had sent out.
